ABOUT THE FILM

"It takes a body to go cold before the bedroom heats up." says producer Nino Abate.

Cool Wave Pictures, in association with Picture Point Media presents "Sex and Violence", a new short film stars Patrick Adam and Carrie Fee. The film was directed by Charles Peterson whose credits include the award winning short film "Win Lose or Draw", the feature film "The 11th Aggression" and "Blood Guardian". The film was written by Jose Rosete and Charles Peterson and this is their fifth collaboration working together to bring the written words to screen.

The short film follows the married couple Donald and Cassandra's sexual escapades. Violence is a key factor in the quest to satisfy Donald and Cassandra's sexual needs, until Donald comes to his senses, risking the life and love he once knew. Donald wants the "true love" back into their marriage, but Cassandra feels there is nothing wrong.

"This is not a film that will sexual arouse you in any way." claims Peterson, "this is a film that tells a disturbing story of a couple who is turned on by violent images".

Casting of the film, director Charles Peterson turned to Patrick Adam, who the director has collaborated on several other shorts, including the award winning "Win, Lose, or Draw". "He is an actor who is passionate about film." says the director, "We have had many disagreements, but that is what made or working relationship much stronger". New to the Cool Wave Pictures empire is actress Carrie Fee who Peterson auditioned for the part of Cassandra. "Carrie was a great choice for Cassandra. Her background includes theatre and this was her first lead role in a short film."

You would expect Sex in a film called Sex and Violence. Director Charles Peterson was very up front with what was required of the actors. He told the actors, exactly what he wanted in each scene. "I told them that the film was not going to be a skin-a-max movie, but an art film that bared it all", says Peterson. "I am distubed that people are more offended by naked bodies than some guy getting shot in the face and showing the face half gone".

Of course there's violence. You have to get the characters aroused sexually to tell this story. Actor Steve Furedy plays one of the victims in the film. Director Charles Peterson insists that Furedy is in everyone of his movies, "whether he likes it or not", laughs Peterson. The violence plays a huge part in the films plot which leaves Donald risking his life, to tell Cassandra how he feels.

Why tell a story about Sex and Violence?

"I like to tell stories that people would find uneasy, question human sexuality in a dark way, questioning why they do these disturbing things. When Jose Rosete named off three short films about a year and a half ago, he mentioned one called "Rubberneckers", which was a working title for the script. It was about a sexually charged couple who's sex life was fueled by extreme violence. I said, 'that's a brilliant idea'. I knew deep down inside I had to make this movie. Luckily for me, the script was available and I was able to bring my vision to the big screen.

"Sex and Violence" is scheduled to premiere at the Internation Horror Sci-Fi Festival in the Deadly Event category in October 2009. It is also said that it will be screening at the actual Deadly Event which is held around Halloween. Check back to this site for future screenings of this controversial drama.
